What is naan?

Naan is a unique bread with roots in India. It is baked from white flour, yeast, eggs, milk, salt and a pinch of sugar. It is baked in a traditional tandoor oven. Naan is served hot and lightly burnt straight from the oven. It is usually served as a side dish smeared only with Indian ghee butter, but its variants with garlic or with garlic and cheese are also popular.
